According to the definition, a paradox is a seemingly true statement or group of statements that lead to a contradiction or a situation that seems to defy logic or intuition. The statement “The man who writes about himself and his own time is the only man who writes about all people and about all time?” Although it is hard to define the real meaning of this statement, I think it probably means that the man writes about his life and own time, and somehow he is actually writing other people’s experiences. However, this immediately creates a conflict. How come a man records his life will also related to others’ at the same time? Nevertheless, I agree with this statement, because it is possible. What happened in a person’s life can actually appears on different people. Yet, two opposing ideas cannot always be true. For instance, “I am a liar, how do you know if I am telling the truth?” From this statement, if this person is a lair, so that means all he said will be lies. But, there is a contradiction in this statement. If all he said are lies, then the statement “I am a liar” will also not be true. Therefore, two opposing ideas cannot be true at the same time.
